is a culture exchange between Thai and Australian ceramic artists project. Clay Alchemy organised and run by Thai/Australian ceramic artist, Vipoo Srivilasa and funded by The Australian –Thailand Institute. The main aim of Clay Alchemy is to strengthen cultural relations between the two countries.
Preject detail
involves six Australian ceramic artists to visit Thailand (14 – 27 September) and six Thai ceramic artists to visit Australia (8 – 17 October) this year. The exchange will happen through a reciprocal hosting in each country by local participants of the project, studio visits and thought a series of lectures and demonstrations within ceramic art departments of universities and organizations that promote ceramic art.
Clay Alchemy is also a second phase of organising a collaboration exhibition between the two nations. The first phase was to have a solo exhibition of Vipoo’s work in Bangkok to establish himself as a professional artist in Thailand and establish professional contact and opportunity for the collaboration exhibition. It was completed on 15 November 2005 with a very successful result.
The second phase will enable the artists to get to know each other and understand more of each other’s cultures. After successful completion of Clay Alchemy, the artists involved will be in a position to collaborate and create bodies of works which will exhibit in both Bangkok, Melbourne and hopefully travel to other part of Australian and Thailand. The exhibition will be open in 2007 or 2008.
